“Krishna is God, and if He likes He can spread Krishna consciousness all over the world in a second, without the help of anyone. But I am not God. I am simply a servant of God, so I require assistance. If someone helps me even a little, I am eternally indebted to him.” [ Srila Prabhupada, Back to Godhead magazine, Issue 5, 1978 ]

Srila Prabhupada, it is my hearts desire to assist you birth after birth in your glorious preaching mission. I want to always be standing behind you, awaiting your next order to spread Krsna consciousness to every town and village!

Rain Rain Go Away!

There’s a saying, “Rain or shine the show must go on.” Unfortunately, one day our show didn’t go on. The driving rain simply wouldn’t let up. We were obliged to cancel our festival. Praying for sunny weather so we may share our good fortune with others.

“O Lord, please give me Your leave. I will wander about the worlds, which are flooded with Your fame, loudly chanting Your pastimes, which purify the universe.” [ Narada Muni to Lord Krsna, SB. 10.69.39 ]

Our 2017 summer festival tour has begun. As always, our focus is on delivering the holy names to one and all through the medium of harinama, attractive cultural shows on our festival stage, numerous booths and tents depicting India’s spiritual culture, our restaurant and many other attractions. Though rain canceled one day of festivities, the sun broke out enough the next day for us to share the wonderful world of Krsna consciousness with many fortunate souls.

“O transcendentally blissful guru, when my mind finally achieves a place at your lotus feet, all the tiresome labor of my spiritual practices will be finished, and by your mercy, I will experience the greatest happiness.” SB. 10.87.33, verse by Sridhar Swami quoted in purport.

The heart of our festival program on the Baltic Sea coast in Poland this summer is our stage show. The 5-hour production showcases the ancient spiritual culture of India through several theaters, dance, kirtan, martial arts, a magic show and a discourse on Bhagavad Gita. The show never fails to earn numerous rousing applauses from the audience.

By Your Side

My dear spiritual master Srila Prabhupada, I was with you in my youth, as I am with you now; may I remain forever by your side, fulfilling each order you give to perfection.

“O devotee of the Lord, to see you is the perfection of the eyes, to touch your body is the perfection of bodily activities, and to glorify your qualities is the perfection of the tongue, for it is very rare to find a pure devotee like you.”
[ Hari Bhakti Sudhodaya 13.2 ]

Chanting the holy names on the street with mridungas and kartalas is the original way that Lord Caitanya introduced people to Krsna consciousness 500 years ago in India. The process is still most effective as we experience daily on our summer festival tour here in Poland. One need only observe the bright smiles and enthusiastic waving of people as our colorful chanting party passes by. Or the many photos they take of us to remember the blissful occasion! Sharing The Bliss
On our festival tour along the Baltic Sea coast in Poland each summer we try to give people an experience of the spiritual world. Through the stage show, the many tents, exhibits and our vegetarian restaurant people come to understand how joyful spiritual life can actually be. The result is that many of them go deeper and inquire more about our lifestyle, buy our books and continue to come back to our festivals each year. As tour devotees we have come to understand that sharing our good fortune with others in such a dynamic way is our own greatest pleasure. Jaya Srila Prabhupada!

A cold and wet summer on the Baltic Sea coast here in Poland makes for sharp contrast on festival days. When the rain pours down our festival site is empty. When the sun shines the same festival grounds overflow with large crowds. Let the sun shine on!

“Immediately Liberated!”
“If the Holy Name is chanted just once, even impurely, or if one simply hears it, then that person, regardless of his birth, is immediately liberated. This is the declaration of scripture. Furthermore, when the Holy Name is chanted in the clearing stage ( when impurities are slowly cleansed from the heart of the chanter ) then the highest goal is attained after some delay.”

[ Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur, Sri Harinam Cintamani, Chapter 2 ]

“That Special Song”
I awoke at 3:30 a.m. as the first rays of Eastern Europe’s summer sun peeked through my window. I was confused. Where am I? Nothing in the room seemed familiar. Since my travels take me to a new town and country every few days, this happens often when I first awake. Getting up, I looked outside the window to get my bearings.

“Oh, right,” I said softly, as I watched devotees arriving with their luggage to our base for the summer festival tour. “I’m back on the Baltic Sea coast in Poland.”

Excited to begin, I showered quickly, dressed, and stepped out into the cool morning air. Chanting my japa, I found myself distracted by worries of how this tour would unfold. We were short of funding, several trucks were broken down, the electrical system on our massive stage was malfunctioning, and worst of all, local farmers were predicting a cold, wet summer.

I decided not to waste my time in worry. “Krishna’s the supreme controller,” I reminded myself. “He can fix all these obstacles on a moments notice. He’s done it for us many times before in the last 28 years.” Continue Reading

“I Shall Not Pass This Way Again”

I am aware that my biological clock is winding down. There is no use denying it. It is real. Not only am I in my late sixties, but I have also survived two deadly bouts of cancer. Left with the possibility of reoccurrence, I savour each moment just like gold. My years of training in Krsna consciousness have prepared me for the arrival of old age and disease, and have enabled me to handle them …Continue Reading

In the midst of all an all-encompassing service on the shores of a foreign land, my mind keeps returning home, to Vrindavan, that eternal abode of love and bliss …
“I eagerly desire to see Vrindavan, whose indescribable beauty defeats the beauty of millions of cupids, which is brightly illuminated by a golden and bluish transcendental effulgence, and which is merged into the ocean of sweet conjugal pastimes.”

[ Srila Prabodhananda Sarasvati, Sri Vrindavan Mahimamrta, Sataka One, verse 20 ]

Lord Caitanya Leads Kirtan

“The Master sang joyfully in accents astonishingly sweet and charming to the ear, as He moved in the midst of a circle made by His intimate devotees. The ornament of the three worlds, Lord Gauracandra Himself, of all attractive persons the most attractive, dances, in the supreme abode of Nilacala, the temple like a blue mountain.” [ Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya, Susloka-Satakam, verse 14

A Step Into Vrindavan

Our festival program along the Baltic Sea in Poland is a step into Vrindavan, the spiritual world. Three hundred devotees put on 48 festivals in 2 months in various towns and villages along the coast. Tens of thousands of people enjoy the cultural programs. By the end of each festival many guests are dancing in great happiness along side the devotees. A wonderful formula for sharing the process of Krsna consciousness.

Diary of a Traveling Monk – Volume 14, Chapter 14. “The Line Up”

I was in a cheerful mood when I awoke on the last day of the first half of our summer tour. All twenty-four of our festival programs along the Baltic Sea coast in Poland so far had been successful despite the unseasonably bad weather. For the moment, auspiciousness reigned. Nevertheless, I reflected on the unpredictable nature of this world and Srila Prabhupada’s words to a disciple that, ‘anything can happen at…
